Do you have a collection of photographs that you wish could be in a book? Have you heard of zines or artist books, but just don’t know where to begin? If this sounds like you, then this is the weekend workshop for you!
Join us as we introduce students into the world of DIY Zine making with photographer Tobin Yelland and zine maker Clint Woodside. Tobin and Clint will take you from developing a concept to the final completion of your own publication over the course of three days at the Leica Store in Los Angeles.
Previous publishing experience is not required! This program will embrace the DIY (Do it yourself) spirit, empowering you to take a hands-on approach. After looking at the history of self-publishing and trends in contemporary zine making, you will be challenged to create your own zine, with images you bring or shoot over the course of the workshop.
Tobin & Clint will guide you every step of the way covering techniques to produce a completely “hand made” analogue book, without a computer or the process of building a book with Adobe Indesign. At the conclusion of this program you will walk away not only with your own zine, but with the knowledge and resources to continue your pursuit of self-publishing.
